Joey Tan (Singapore, 1997) is a composer and dancer. She has been pursuing a Konzertexamen degree in Composition at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg with Johannes Schöllhorn since April 2023. She is a recipient of the DAAD Scholarship and a grant of the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg. In 2022, she received the DAAD Prize for outstanding achievements of international students. Previously, she studied with Peter Edwards and Martin Jaggi in Singapore.

Joey started dancing classical ballet at the age of 3. Her path to music was always through dance. Later, she also explored other genres such as contemporary and gaga. In 2023, she composed Wogen, eins ums andere which was commissioned by Ensemble ö!, in which she also choreographed and danced. With her experience in both music and dance she aims to create works in which both art forms are unified.

Joey's pieces have been performed Europe, Asia and North America by renowned soloists and ensembles, such as Ensemble Phoenix Basel, Ensemble Recherche and Les Éclats du Son.
